Many writers have longed to travel back in time to the
sizzling Paris of the 1920s when an enormously talented cast
of expatriates were drawn to the magic of Jazz Age Paris. In
the aftermath of World War I, Paris was the center of the
artistic universe.
Imagine the creative energy, the
conversations . . . with Hemingway and Fitzgerald at Les
Deux Magots or Picasso and Joyce at La Rotonde.
Pack your bags, your favorite pen
and notebooks and join author/mentor/facilitator, Karen Ely,
and a small group of women writers for a weeklong immersion
in the magical setting of Paris' Left Bank ~ 2012 style!
Part
writing salon, part courting the muse, part literary tour of
Paris' Left Bank, Midnight in Paris is for any woman
yearning for inspiration in the cafes and literary haunts of
the great writers of the 20th century.
Poetry, fiction, nonfiction, memoir
or whatever moves you . . . this retreat is for any woman
dedicated to writing, sharing and soaking up the
electrifying atmosphere that will make this a week to
remember . . . one with the potential to change your writing
in a profound way.
Rather than a teacher/student
writing workshop, this will be a weeklong writing adventure
among peers.
Each
morning, we'll gather for meditation, creativity-awakening
and writing exercises, surrounded by the support and synergy
of our women's writing community. Afternoons will be spent ~
solo, in pairs or small groups ~ exploring and writing in
the cafes and literary haunts of Hemingway, Fitzgerald,
Joyce and Stein. We'll find inspiration in the Jardin du
Luxembourg, drink in the tantalizing scents and sounds of
the lively Latin Quarter, be stimulated by the Musée d"Orsay,
and stroll along the sparkling Seine. We'll gather each
evening for a glass of wine and a lively discussion and
sharing of our day's writing.
Our morning and evening sessions
will take place in a delightful apartment central to the
hotels, parks, cafes, museums and galleries of the artistic
Saint Germain des Pres area located on Paris' left bank.
Home to a number of famous cafés, such as Les Deux Magots
and Café de Flore, our home away from home will provide a
creative center of camaraderie and support for our week's
activities. |
